Difference between Old Testament and New Testament !!!
Continues... Part – 4
Matthew 5
27: “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
28: But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Now you may ask, the Old Testament says that if one has committed adultery he/she must be put to death but it can be argued that Jesus does not tell us to kill here.
In that case, we also need to pay close attention to what Jesus says. Jesus pointed out the root of the sin of adultery and said, if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck out your eye and if your hand or foot causes you to stumble, pluck them out… What can we do now?
If we do as Jesus says, many Christians will have to walk around without eyes, legs and hands. But the explanation for this is clearly given in Part 3.
The Scriptures are given to us by The Holy Spirit. Men of God who lived in their respective times were inspired by The Holy Spirit and wrote each part of the Bible. All those books have been combined and are in our hands as the Bible. That is why all the Words right from Genesis to Revelation are linked to each other. Thus, The Holy Spirit is The Author of the Scriptures. Therefore, if we read the Scriptures without the help of The Holy Spirit we will incorrectly understand it. The reason there is so much confusion among Christians today is that they simply read the Scriptures without the help of Holy Spirit or looked at the Bible with worldly wisdom. The Lord's Scripture says that the wisdom of this world is foolishness (1 Corinthians 1:20, 21).
God cannot be known with the wisdom of the world.
Today, many Christians never accept when a person is moved by The Holy Spirit and says “The Spirit of The Lord says.” There are two reasons for this.
This is the consequence of many false ministers who arose and cheated many by saying that it is The Holy Spirit Who says the words which they speak on their own. This is a deceptive snare of the devil.
This way when such people keep cheating saying that The Spirit of The Lord says, truly even if one genuinely speaks by The Holy Spirit, no one will believe it. This is the trick of the devil.
Similarly, the reason why these people are not able to find out if it is true or false is because they have not died to the worldly wisdom or to their self in Christ. This is the second reason.
1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned…is what The Lord’s Scripture warns about.
But the main purpose for which The Holy Spirit has been given to us is: To teach us all that Christ said, to strengthen and guide us. Therefore, without The Holy Spirit, we can never understand these Scriptures passages.
As I have already said in the previous parts, all these sins were defiling men hindering God from being among the people and moreover, there was only a temporary purification in those days. Until Lord Jesus Christ was sent into this world, the adulterer was being put to death according to the commandment of The Law. That custom was stopped by Father God when Jesus came into this world. However, we must never forget that Jesus was killed in the place of the person who committed adultery. By God's great love, mercy and favor, Jesus was killed in our place, and we escaped from the condemnation and survived. Therefore, God's ordinance, i.e. The Law, never changed at all. That is why Jesus said, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.”
Matthew 5:17
It was because of that only The Lord had mercy on the woman who was caught red-handed in adultery. Yet, He sent her by warning her not to sin again. This grace has been misunderstood by many today. They say that Jesus was condemned for us, so we now have no condemnation, and they furthermore say that Jesus is not going to judge or condemn anyone anymore. But The Lord never said so.
Because Jesus died for us, we are forgiven and have received the mercy to repent and live again. The Holy Spirit has also been given to help us. So now we must love God and live according to His commandments, it is easy to live like that. Because The Holy Spirit now stands by us to Help us.
Jesus did not say that you don't need to do all these commandments anymore, but He clearly explained those commandments and warned us how carefully we should live.
With the help of Holy Spirit, He even lived showing us how to love God and live according to His commandments.
Therefore, look unto Christ Jesus.
And so, if we use this chance properly we will have no condemnation. But if we sin presumptuously against God again,
Hebrews 10
26 : For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the Truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
27 : but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
28 : Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
29 : Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted The Spirit of grace?
According to the Bible verses mentioned above we will be subjected to severe condemnation than the Old Testament.
